Q. How do l clean my Chartley Furniture?
A. We recommend using warm soapy water and then DRY off with an old, soft teatowel!! Or windowlene and kitchen roll. NOT spray polish of any kind, no aerosol cleaners, only gentle, water based products. Any really bad marks can be removed with a cream cleaner (like Ciff) on a wet cloth with one drop only of the cleaner! A gentle circular motion should do it! then dry off with old tea towel.
Q. What should l avoid getting on the surface of my furniture?
A. All purfume, nail varnish or nail varnish remover! No oils of any kind! If you take a drink to bed, please place on a small tray, as water can sometimes leave marks! Do not clean with spray polish or wax - see instructions above!
Q. What is 'RE-Cycled' Furniture?
A. This is furniture that has been 'part exchanged' by another customer, it has been 'previously enjoyed'! If a customer decides their furniture has been 'out-grown' we take it back, and they part-exchange it for something else! We only offer this service on genuine Chartley Furniture.
Q. Can l have my furniture re-painted at a later date?
A. YES! You would need to call the showroom direct for prices on 01959 533676.
Q. Can l change my artist work, as my 2nd child will be using the bedroom and would prefer Fairies instead of Diggers?

Q. Can l collect my furniture?
A. YES, you may collect from our Gillingham Kent factory, (not the showroom). BUT you will need to bring your own protective blankets or bubble wrap, as the furniture is not 'flat packed' in cardboard boxes!! Small items, such as mirrors and coat hooks, can be collected from our showroom. Items have to be 'booked' to arrange your own collection - so please call us on 01959 533676.
Q. How long does it take from order to delivery?
A. Usually 4-6 weeks, depending on what you order. Artwork takes longer than orders without hand painting! We are sometimes able to deliver extra quickly in an emergency!! At busy times it may be 6-8 weeks.
Q. Is it possible to 'colour match' to some existing furniture?
A. YES! Just bring in a piece of the furniture and we will see what can be done! We are able to match most makes of furniture, such as Dragons Of Walton Street, 'A' Space, Laura Ashley etc. All we need is a sample to work from.
Q. Can l pay by cheque?
A. You can pay your deposit by cheque, but not your balance, unless it is paid 7 days before your delivery date. We need to ensure all funds are cleared BEFORE delivery.
Q. Do you offer finance?
A. Sadly, no we are not able to offer any credit terms. We do accept payment via Mastercard, Visa, Solo, Maestro and PayPal (but not American Express).
You can pay installments, as and when you wish, and we will keep a record of all amounts paid and contact you when you are near the end of payments to arrange delivery!
Q. Can artwork be added at a later date?
A. Technically yes, but it is much more 'cost effective' to have it done in the first place! If you wish to add it later, we will need to collect all the items, add the hand painting, then re-laquer, and return to you. There also may be a slight colour variation on the artworked sections as they will have been laquered twice!
Q. What are your company terms?
A. 50% deposit on order, the balance payable BEFORE delivery by credit/debit card or cash. Furniture cannot be released until paid for in full. Any cheques will need to cleared one week before your delivery date. We are unable to deliver furniture that has not been paid for in full. If you require any further clarification on this, please call the showroom 01959 533676. Telephone or internet orders - we will require card holder to provide identy details and card used if collecting goods.
Q. Why do l pay my delivery charge separately?
A. The people that deliver your items are self-employed. You pay them directly. If you pay Chartley, you will have to be charged VAT on your delivery charge! Call the showroom for clarification on any of these points 01959 533676.
Q. Will the delivery people fit my mirror on the wall?
A. The fitting of mirrors, hooks, height charts etc is generally left for you, the customer to fit. However, whilst placing your order, the showroom ladies will clarify this with you, and confirm the price should you require this to be done. It is a small charge. Bookcases, if required to be fitted are also chargable. Radiator cabinets can also be fitted - please confirm the charge with the showroom. NO FITTING is included in your Chartley Balance!
